Since 2015, LPEM FEB UI has established a partnership with OJK and USAID – ICED II to organize Environmental Analyst Training for the Banking Sector. A total of 5 training batches were held in various locations in Indonesia, aimed at encouraging the banking sector to increase its green portfolio, especially in the renewable energy sector. The training is structured in such a way that participants understand what is meant by sustainable finance, how environmental and renewable energy regulations are in Indonesia, and how to carry out credit assessments for the renewable energy sector. The renewable energy sector in question is PLTMH, PLTS, PLTBG POME. Apart from being given in the form active lecturing and case study discussions, participants also saw firsthand how the business was run through activities site visits to the generator location.
Several modules have been prepared by LPEM FEB UI researchers who are also resource persons in the training. The training module was prepared by LPEM FEB UI through research activities in the form of literature studies, interviews with clean energy technical consultants and bank analysts who have experience in conducting credit assessments in clean energy businesses.
To expand the target training participants, OJK and USAID ICED II held a special event in the form of handing over modules to several universities (UI, UGM, UNPAD, IPB, Trisakti University, LPPI) at the International Seminar on Sustainable Finance (ISSF) on 1-2 December 2016 in Bali. By handing over the training modules to several universities and educational institutions, it is hoped that more institutions will provide capacity development to the banking sector regarding sustainable finance and clean energy financing.
