Towards the end of August 2024, the Indonesian people were shocked by the government's plan to implement electronic tickets based on the Population Identification Number (NIK) for transportation users. NIK, the Government hopes that Public Service Obligation (PSO) subsidies will be more targeted and enjoyed by community groups who really need them.
Although it is still just a discourse, the plan to implement NIK-based tickets has drawn criticism from the public. Many are concerned that this plan will cause injustice, especially for KRL users who face administrative problems related to NIK or who are not included in the population data system. Although this plan is still under discussion, the government seems serious about continuing this policy.
