In order to realize natural resource sovereignty, increase added value in the country as well as to open employment opportunities, increase foreign exchange and equal economic growth, the Indonesian Government implemented a ban on bauxite exports on June 10 2023. The implementation of this ban is in accordance with the mandate of Law no. 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law no. 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining (UU Minerba). This law stipulates that the export of unrefined metallic mineral products can only be carried out no later than three years after the regulation comes into effect.
