ECONOMIC ANALYSIS SERIES: TRADE AND INDUSTRY BRIEF, May 2020

Indonesia's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) has experienced a decline since the first Covid-19 case was announced in March 2020, and continued to decline sharply last April. This May edition of the Trade and Industry Brief discusses several causes of the decline in PMI and several steps that can be taken to minimize the decline in manufacturing activity during the pandemic and accelerate post-pandemic manufacturing recovery.
