ECONOMIC ANALYSIS SERIES: TRADE AND INDUSTRY BRIEF, August 2021

To simplify the business licensing process, at the beginning of August the Indonesian government launched a risk-based Online Single Submission (OSS) or risk-based approach (RBA), which is one form of implementation of Law no. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. With this OSSRBA, businesses with a lower risk of danger will go through simpler and lighter licensing processes and requirements, and vice versa. It is hoped that the OSS-RBA will improve the business climate in Indonesia, of course if there is consistency at the level of implementation. This month's Trade and Industry Brief briefly discusses risk level parameters, licensing arrangements for each risk level, as well as homework that still needs to be considered.
