Reducing Inequality in Latin America: Accomplishments in the Last Decade and The Challenges Ahead

Latin America has achieved dramatic declines in income inequality over the past decade: the Gini coefficient for the region as a whole fell from .56 to .51 from 2003 to 2013, and there have been declines in inequality in various measures of human capital, including school enrollment and infant mortality.
