MACROECONOMIC ANALYSIS SERIES: Monthly Inflation, September 2022

Year-on-year (YoY) inflation in August 2022 was reported at 4,69% or decreased by 0,25% compared to annual inflation in July 2022. Month-on-month (MtM) deflation in July 2022 was recorded at 0,21%, which is a decrease in inflation amounting to 0,84% ​​compared to MtM inflation in July 2022. BPS reported that the core inflation component and government regulated prices contributed to inflation of 0,24% and 0,06% respectively, while the volatile price inflation component contributed to deflation of 0,51, 2,64%. Deflation occurred in the foodstuffs sector (1,80%), food, beverages and tobacco (0,08%), transportation (0,03%), and information, communications and financial services (1,85%). On the other hand, other sectors experienced inflation, with price increases predominantly occurring in the education sector (0.76%), energy (XNUMX%), and housing, water, electricity,
and other fuels (0.58%)
