MACROECONOMIC ANALYSIS SERIES: Monthly Inflation, August 2023

Year-on-year (YoY) inflation in July 2023 was reported at 3,08% or decreased by 0,44% compared to annual inflation in June 2023. Thus, YoY general inflation has consistently decreased after its peak in September 2022. General inflation for the month This was mainly due to the price component regulated by the government which experienced YoY inflation of 8,42%. YoY inflation occurred in all sectors except the information, communications and financial services sector (-0,24%), which has consistently experienced deflation for the last 19 months. The highest YoY price increases occurred in the energy (10,49%) and transportation (9,58%) sectors. YoY inflation for the energy sector has reached double digits since September last year.
