MACROECONOMIC ANALYSIS SERIES: Bank Indonesia Board of Governors Meeting, October 2019

As signs of a slowdown in the US economy strengthen, the Fed has begun trying to reduce possible risks by cutting the Fed's interest rate target twice since the FOMC meeting in July. This provides more opportunities for developing country central banks to take similar action. BI itself has cut its policy interest rate three times since the Board of Governors meeting in July. BI's accommodative monetary policy was also implemented as a reaction to increasing concerns about slowing domestic economic conditions.
