LABOR MARKET BRIEF: Volume 2, Number 5, November 2021

November 26, 2021

In August 2021, it was recorded that Indonesia's open unemployment rate had decreased compared to August 2020. This condition was more or less influenced by the condition of the Indonesian economy which was starting to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the average monthly wage/salary of workers has decreased (yoy). On the other hand, the determination of the minimum wage for 2022 will be carried out in the period approaching the end of 2021 and is planned to increase by an average of 1,09%. This condition needs to be of concern to the government in connection with the unemployment rate in Indonesia which is still quite high compared to conditions before the pandemic.
