Labor Market Brief – December 2020 Edition

December 10, 2020

In 2019, BPS noted that 11,1% of Indonesia's total population were lifelong migrants, while another 2,2% were migraineurs. Population migration has pull factors and push factors, including the educational history of the population, employment opportunities, as well as other social and economic factors. Based on SUSENAS 2019, the provinces on the island of Java are the provinces that are the destination for the most migration compared to other islands. Understanding the characteristics of the migrant population will be useful for stakeholders in formulating better planning, especially those related to public policy.
