Labor Market Brief – August 2020 Edition

The COVID-19 pandemic has also affected the labor market, including migrant workers. Several countries have taken steps to limit the activities and protect their citizens who work in other countries. The Indonesian government's commitment is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Manpower Number 151 of 2020. This resulted in a drastic reduction in the number of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) placed in other countries in April 2020, although this was also caused by other policies from the destination country of placement. PMI. The latest development was that at the end of July 2020, the government withdrew this policy by issuing Minister of Manpower Decree Number 294 of 2020.
