The increase in greenhouse gases has become a major global concern in the last decade. Indonesia plays an important role in determining world greenhouse gas emissions for two reasons; as the country with the 4th largest population in the world and as the country with the 8th largest forest in the world. In the last 20 years, Indonesia's total forests have decreased from 1,19 million square km in 1990 to 0,94 million square km in 2010 (World Development Indicators, 2013).
