Water Carrying Capacity in Urban Planning: A Regulatory Review

The presence of water is very important for the sustainability of the city. The issue of water in city planning is not only limited to how to provide water infrastructure for city activities, but is also related to the wider environment, namely how city planning can maintain the sustainability of the availability of water resources, or what is known as water carrying capacity. From the literature, water carrying capacity is related to water supply and demand. Therefore, in city planning it is necessary to consider water carrying capacity, regarding the relationship between the provision of water resources - both those provided naturally and from the existence of infrastructure - with the demand for water needed for the city's socio-economic activities. This paper tries to look in the literature at how regulations have included the importance of considering water carrying capacity in urban planning.
