Climate and Disaster Resilient Infrastructure in Indonesia: Is It Enough?

In the first regime of Joko Widodo's government (2015-2019), the Indonesian Government (PI) established a progressive plan for infrastructure development to improve connectivity between regions, encourage economic growth and increase national competitiveness. Government spending on infrastructure increased significantly from 154,6 trillion Rupiah (13 billion US dollars) in 2014 to 394,1 trillion Rupiah (27,2 billion US dollars) in 2019, or approximately an increase of 254,9%. This budget size represents Indonesia's high ambitions for expanding infrastructure, which includes: 3.432 km of national roads, 1.852 km of toll roads, 65 dams, 38.431 hectares of urban slum area revitalization, 559.660 public housing units with drinking water systems, 27 sea ports, and 10 international airports.
