Briefing Note April 2020: Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Indonesian Tourism: Challenges, Outlook and Policy Response

Tourism Development Since the COVID-19 Pandemic: Foreign and domestic tourists have dropped drastically. How Long Will the Pandemic Impact Tourism? In Indonesia, there are at least two scenarios for the pandemic period: Ending at the end of June – early July if handling is effective. Ending at the end of August – early September if handling is weak. Simulation of the Impact of the Pandemic on Indonesian Tourism: Both with Scenario I and Scenario II, for 2020 the growth of the Accommodation & Food and Drink Provision, Transportation and Warehousing Trade, Other Services (including Arts, Entertainment, Recreation) sectors will reach a negative point. An appropriate policy response is needed during the pandemic and the recovery period after the pandemic ends for at least a year later.
