Acceleration of the Modern Public Transportation Network as an Effort to Increase the Productivity and Economy of City Communities: Case Study of the Jakarta MRT

October 1th

DKI Jakarta is the center of economic activity in the Jabodetabek area with a high level of mobility both from the surrounding areas and within the city of Jakarta itself. The high level of mobility of people in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings has resulted in various challenges, one of which is the high dependence on private transportation. The Indonesian Government's initiative to develop public transportation modes in the DKI Jakarta area began in the 1980s through the Jabotabek Railway Development Master Plan (JRDMP) in 1982. In 2005, the MRT project was declared a national project by the President of Indonesia followed by implementation of phase 1 loan agreement (2006), establishment of PT MRT Jakarta (2008) and phase 2 loan agreement (2009)
